Ovor tho past fow months, City staff have been working with roprosontatlves
from tho skateboarding community, Downtown Bottermont Assoclntlon,
Campustown Botterment Association, Jaycees, and Town and Country Kiwanis
Club In order to dovolop doslgn and construction crltorla, It Is tho Council's
deslro that tha cost of doslgn and construction bo tho rosponslblllty of tho
aka to board users. To dato It Is bolloved tho abovo namcd groups ron shoulder
tho rosponslblllty for design and construction of a facility according to City of
Ames standards os well os providing an Initial Invontory of safety.rolatod rontal

At tho May 17, 1990, Parks and Rocroatlon Commission meotlng, tho Commission
dlrocted staff to provldo tho Commission with a rocommended slto for tho faclUty
os woll as oxponso and rovonuo proJoctlons. This Item was tablod at tho Juno
21, 1990, Commission mooting as tho Commission did not feol comfortablo rocom-
mondlng Stuart Smith Park as a slto for tho skatoboard faclUty,

Park; areas of Brooksldo Park (south of 13th Streot, tho opon aroa south of
tho Brooksldo Park tonnls courts, and a portion of tho north/control parking
