Fiscal Impact: None
Staff Recommendation: Approval
Commission Recommendations: N/A
Executive Summary:
As directed by Title 9, Section 3B of the City Code, this is to advise the City Council of the
following action.
Pursuant to Section 9-1-3A (10) establish "No Parking, Standing, Stopping Any Time" on both
sides of Heinz Road, between Highway 6 and Scott Boulevard.
Background /Analysis:
Staff have responded to numerous complaints about semi-trucks parking on Heinz Road
(north of Hwy 6) in recent years and have made several 'No Parking' adjustments to remedy
the situation. Despite these changes, we continue to receive complaints and have learned
that some (if not most) of the trucks parking on Heinz Road are actually not serving the
businesses located within the industrial area.
In late February, staff polled businesses located on Heinz Road to gauge support for posting
'No Stopping, Standing, Parking' signs on the entirety of street (north of Highway 6). Two
property owners did not respond (or may be vacant), two voiced opposition, and eleven were
supportive of the prohibition. Amazon, ALPLA, and UNFI—the most trucking intensive
businesses in the industrial area—were among those who supported the change.
