Male Female Experience and/or activities which you feel qualify you for this position: * Here is a small snippet of my work experience that I believe qualifies me for the role of Senior Center commissioner. I was the Member Service and Volunteer Coordinator for TRAIL (Tools and Resources for Active Independent Living) of Johnson County from 2019-2021. TRAIL is a membership based non profit that helps seniors stay socially engaged and provides access to resources and volunteers to help members remain in their homes as they age. I was simultaneously a TRAIL employee, member and volunteer. One highlight of my role at TRAIL was attending the national conference of the Village to Village Network - the national model on which TRAIL was founded - where I gained tremendous exposure to national trends and resources for seniors. The TRAIL office is located in the Iowa City Senior Center so I became very familiar with the Senior Center staff, facility, programs and members, as well as the needs of Iowa City's aging population (a 35-40 year expanse of age!) and the local resources available to them. I was also a member of the Senior Center prior to Covid and engaged with and participated in, many of the Senior Center program offerings. It was pure joy to interact with seniors in our community who were participating in the numerous events held within the Senior Center, as well as learn first hand about their challenges and then work to help resolve them. We are so fortunate to have a vibrant Senior Center in our community and I'd like to continue to strengthen this by taking my experience to the commission. What is your present knowledge of each advisory board you are interested in?* I've watched the Senior Center Commission meetings and am familiar with the agenda topics and process.
