The board and the staff at the library need an active, involved Board of Trustees and at this time, I cannot devote the time necessary to be productive. Please understand that in my role as General Manager @ KCJJ the ICPL will ALWAYS have open access to our airwaves. Anytime you or Susan need to come on our morning show, you are welcome. From 2002 until recently, I served on the Board of Directors for Uptown Bill's Small Mall, and have been a member of the Advisory Committee for Musick's Feast (ensemble whose proceeds go toward hunger relief efforts). I have a physical condition that makes it impossible to sit, and therefore must live where I will be able to walk to my workplace. I believe I am typical of a segment of Iowa City's population who generally are not able to own their own homes, but who are able to rent - if rental housing is available. I believe the city council has created several good programs addressing the need for affordable housing, and am especially interested in implementation of "scattered site," or "inclusionary zoning" polices, and neighborhood- and community-Ofriendly development. Regarding the rental situation, I especially see a need to foster the continuance to the "small: landlord and to address the consolidation of rental management under a few companies (which appear to do an inadequate job in general).
