admissions, toam entry foos, group
rentals/rosorvations, Farmors Harket, and
vonding/concosoion/lockor rontals. Truoblood
stated two key rocommondations aro that tho
current senior citizen discount would be
eliminatod, indicating it should not be basod
on age but cn income, and tho 10w-incolDG
policy would apply to residents of Iowa City
only, Trueblood indicated it was unknown what
tho impact would be on revenuo projections.
He stated it was tho departmont's hope that.
tho individuals participating at tho
discountod rato would bo now patrons, thus not
creating a substantial impact on projected
revenuos. Tho participant would neod to
complote a simplo application form, and will
bo SUbstantially on the honor system, with the
applicant being informod in tho application
form that they could be audited, Trueblood
stated tho proposod low incomo policy was
presonted to tho city Council at its informal'
mooting on Hay 7 to obtain their input, and
tho consonsus was to procoed.
Watson asked if Titlo XIX cardholdors had to
completo tho application, Horan indicatod
thoy would nood to completo tho form by
chocking that all mombers of thoir housohold
are recipionts of Title XIX benefits, showing
the card, and signing tho application form so
they aro awaro that tho application lay bo
selocted on a salllple basis for verification,
Vanderhoof askod it thero was any problelll with
privacy and who would have accoss to this
information within tho systelll. Trueblood
stated ho was not aware of any problelll with
privacy, ond that only of fico porsonnel would
have accoss to this information,

Rocreation Conter como into contact with
persons who aro unable to pay the 50' that
they could bo referred to him, and ho thought
his congrogation would bo willing to holp.

Rocreation Foundation received a donation from
tho Bob Allen Estate specifically oarmarked to
teach chlldron to swim, Horan stated start
had already rQceived numerous low i"como
application requests in the summer camp

want to detormino if Johnson County would want
to work cooporativoly with the city to offor
the low-income discount to qualifying Johnson
County rosidents, similar to what is presently
done at the Iowa City Public Library and
Senior Center,

be taken back to the City Council at its
formal mooting on Hay 14 for final approval,
Watson statod the reforondum campaign
committoe consisted of 15 mombors, with
Trueblood, Horan, and Ertz serving ex officio
as support staff, The committee has met and
designed a campaign brochure, a sample of
which was circulated among the commission. He
reported that Bill Steinbrech was appointed as
troasurer. lie also reported that tho
committee has identified a tentative budgot,
and the brochure may be 100' donated,
