M<DI Moved by Ambr, ~onded by Horow tt) adopt UlIS r~luUon
Dlsmslon.
Horowl Yts, Today I had a phOM call trom a rtSldent out thm bringing tt)
my 3t~nUon some ot tht sltuaUons due tt) tho tact that It IS In an
Industrial acta. Thm wm thr~ Sf>\'<ltic sltuaUons that I wondered
wMth~r W'I havo lookt<!ln tt) th~m lIumMr OM Is that th~ ditch
evtd~nUy has stt)rrn watero(onUnually goits tilled tn In OM way or
anothtr and ma~ tloodlng on this ~rson's drlvtway TM 5vcond Is
that tho parking lot Is MVtr oUt<! down and It Is e:<<*<Ilngly dusty.
And thv third, OOcauS>) this house was there wtore MaMr was there.
Although the mldent was not. TMy t~1 that there should bt some
way ot ttncfng ott the Wholt area. ParUcularly the \mt end and the
south. I wondert<! Whethu this has ~n taken Into constdtraUon Or
Wh~ther the stall ha dealt WUl It.
KUbby I It menUons In the statt report about the tence but It IS not elm It
the tence g*5 all the way around the pro~rty Do you know Karin
What r~ulremenl Is It gOing to ~ on the south side as well as the
\'X-st side.
Frankllnl My understanding Is that the tence Is on the w&st sldt ot the
pro~rty and tht w~t sldt Is Whm the rtSldenctS art, Or to the w~t
ot the Maher proF*rty,
tlQV I So the ~rson Who callt<! Is south oft MaMr property and I think that
It Is not an unreasonable r~uest that the south also ~ fence<J.
Frankllnl It Is a condiUon that I suppose you could Impose, What I guess
What I would rtmlnd the council Is that It Is an Industrially zoned
arva, It's up to you,
Kubby I I think that even though It Is zoned Industrial and P\'Ople are
nonconforming, there are P\'Ople living there and If 'iN can find a way
so the business can expand and sUII bt neighborly. If there are
prOblems, W'I sMuld 1001: at them and find a way tt) accommodate
everybody,
Horow/lf this wm a new house after the Maher Bother had Imn thHe I'd
think dlfferenUy, but since Ulls was an elOsUng house prior to the
busln~ coming In.
ursonl It Is agreed that tverybody movt<! to tht ::one. tlo on was there and
had the :ont Impost<! on thtm Who Is cumntly living thert.
Horow/Oh, ytS, P.lght
Larsonl My probl~m IS that we talk about accommodation and wing
Mlghborly. tht Mlghbors aren't offertng to split tile cost of the fence,
are they.

Nov II hm checked that one also and I hm talked t.) Chuck Schmadtke

the city could then complain to Mahers and they could clear It.

M\OI Council In(ormatlon MISS ~Ubby
Kubby II had thr~ Iwms One was a rt<ju~t I made thr~ tlm~ botforo and
I hmn't got anything b3c~, so 1'01 going to try ont last time. I'm
aS~lng something about tht tlmt framt o( planning and Zoning
commissions. this Is kind of dlr~toXl towards Karin, I think. w!lm
I've askoXl for lust a tlmt framt of w!len P&Z's going to bt loo~lng at
SUbdivision regulaUons. a "save th9 trm ordinance", and oth~r
environmental regulations such as raVIM pro~Uon that P&Z could
posSibly bt looking all'm not lOOking for acUon at this poln~ I'm
looking (or a Umt table. and I figure that (ourth Ume's enough. The
~ond thing IS,I've Imned a lot about taXicabs r~(>nUy, b<o(au~ I
had many ~plt (<llllng mt With complaints about 10c.l1 cab
companl~. ~ btfore I could really r~pond to them, I read the code
and ImnoXl a lot about cabs I'm a ptdtStrlan, a blcyCIIS~ and
'iOmeUm~ a driver. and I don't take a cab, so I don't Inwr(ace With
that part o( the community very much, But there's a lot of JmPle Ulat
ride cabs In town, more than you'd think, ~ I wanted to just brlel1y
put a pitch for some consumer InformaUon out there. Cabs. each cabby
has to have a ra~ card in thtlr car that (<In bt 5*n w!ltn you'ro
sllUng In the passenger seal If you don't Stt one you can rt<juest one
and they n&<<t to give you a ra~ card. And the s~ond complaint that I
had was about having 9SUma~ that wm much lower than the actual
cab fare. By law the ending cab fare has to bt, the most it can be Is the
&sUmate piUS a half mile ra~. SO If your cab fare is much greawr than
that you n&ed to make a \'Irlt~n complaint to the city clerk. Calling up
and complaining Is good Information, but we can't use It w!len we're
evaluaUng w!ltthtr to re.llcen~ the drivers, the car, or the company.
So making a \'Irlt~n complaint In your own words, It can bt mailed In.
or dropptd ort In ~rson to the City Clerk's oUlce. ~ It you have a
problem With cab companl~, \'Irl~ It down and let us I:now about Il
And lasUy, I wanted to mention some InformaUon about a memo from
our city manager of Aug. I about was~ reduction, Sta~ manda~ that
by 1994 we have a 25~ decrease In the amount of garbage we bury at
the landfill. With that base number being from our 19M tonnage. We
have reduced our amount by 26.5~, so I thln~ It's a good Indicator
that the communities In~resltd In waste reducUon and In separating
their rocyclablts, w!lether that's rtSldentlal r&Cyclablos or buslntSses
I think a lot of bustMsses m particularly dOing cardboard and that
can take a lot o( space In the landfill So ('m glad for thiS but I ho!>') It
d~sJ\'t ktnd of put a stop~r on our diSCUSSing curbside recycling and
