Gode called the meeting to order at 3:02 PH and Introduced and welcomed
the guests.

HOOd asked that correcllons be made to the Seplember 16 mlnules. She
pointed out a typographical error on page 4, paragraph I. On page 6, last
paragraph, she said that she meant lhe md.s.J.l14 door when referring to lhe
"Alzheimer's patients get nervous and uneasy and wlll want to get out lhat
door," She did not mean the room door. On page 7, second to last
paragraph, she pointed out another typographIcal error. Hood also
mentIoned that she liked having the motions tn bold because they are
easier to locate,
Maurer moved that the mInutes of September 16 be accepted as
corrected. Means seconded. Motton carried, all aycs,
DISCUSSION/ACTION MEETING TIME & DATE
At this point there was a discussion on the probabilIty of finding a better
date for the Commission to meet. Means said that he thought the
Commission should walt until January to decide on this Issue because
there will be new commissioners then. Pieper also suggesled keeping lhe
same meeting dates for the time being.

DISCUSSION: ADP/POOL ROOM HOVE-HEISEL
Members reviewed the letter members had received from Rosalie Rose,
Director or VNA, and lhe manufacturer's specifications for lhe eXlsllng
floor covering In the game room.
Meisel said that she spoke with Steve Atkins, cIty manager, He told
Meisel that whatever the CommIssion decides he will concur,
Helsel reviewed the FY92 budget which InclUded $2,100 to cover the cost
of an architect, remodeling, phOne lines, and moving one pool table. She
also reported that the Center had a fire drill earlier that day, and people
In wheelchaIrs were lert In the stairwell while everyone else was able to
tile out QuIckly. She told the members that they have all of the
Information and that lhey needed to make a decision on what the clly
should pay for and/or when the move should happen, She asked lhe
members to keep tn mind that the pool players were ready 10 purchase
another pool table and lhat If the move dId not happen soon, the pool
players would go ahead and purchase the table which would lhen double
the cost of movIng the lables,
Stager said that he thoughtlhere shOuld be carpet there, But he IIlso
admitted that the move should lake place as soon as POSSlbl& and then
possibly work on the carpollng situation.
Anclaux saId that movIng wheelchairs down staIrs Is very diffIcult. But
lhe first priority should be movIng the AOP downstairs, nollhe carpeting.
Hood asked the members I f they have looked at the move In lerms of the
ADP, She saId as It IS, 1M new room Is a very gray space, and she thinks

Geasland said the Commission has Identified a hazard. She looks at It
from the viewpoint that people could die because of a delay In waiting for
carpeting She said lhe move should take place as soon as Possible and
then the carpeting could be taken care of, There are ways to make It

Stager mentioned that maybe murals could be painted on the walls.
Gode said he would like to have a motion as 10 what lhe Commission's
position Is on the situation.
Meisel said lhat Ir the members vote for carpeting, she would like It to be
uniform with the rest of the Senior Cenler.
Gode urged the Commission to decide upon whether Yil want to ask the
city for additional money In the budget or does the Commission want the
VNA to go oul and ask.
Maurer asked wh~re the funds come from, He wondered whether lhey came
from one pocket or not. Pelper asked If the Senior Center would get a
better price.
Hood moved thaI the Commission ask the ADP to movo at the
completion or the contractor's work and recommend to tho City
that the ^DP room be carpeted, Stager seconded, Motion
