The Mayor announced the following vacancies: One vacancy for an unexpired term ending 3fl7/93 /510 on the Mayor's Youth Employment Bd. This appoinbnent will be made at the 8/18/92 Council meeting. Councibnember Kubby requested an update on the lawn chemical ordinance from the Law School /5/1 Clinic. City Attorney will follow-up. Kubby invited citizens to attend a lawn chemical forum, 7/8. at 7:30 p,m,. in the Public Library. The City Attorney stated that the forum would be broadcast live on the cable library channel. Larson asked staff to research possible city regulation of unanswered car phones _151;). triggering the vehicle horn. In response to Novick, the City Manager reportcd on the installation of speed 15/3 humps on Lexington A venue. and stated mat item would be to Council within the year, Public Works Dir. Charles Sclunadeke present for discussion. Ambrisco noted the correspondence from Peppy's Ice 15/1 Cream regarding their intention to vend on City streets, and stated he had no objection. Horowitz 151 '1 referenced the green recycling pamphlets distributed City wide over the past week and suggested citizens solicit help in proper labeling of containers from school age children on summer vacation. Courtney noted 1.'11 ~ the letter from D.A.R.E, Officer Ockenfels recapping the past year's activities, noting the resounding success. and wished Officer Ockenfels well in her further expansion of the program. The City Manager reported that a cursol)' analysis of recent tax freeze legislation shows an 15 n approximate $200,000 shortfall within the City's general fund over the three year period. He stated adjusbnent recommendations will be prepared for Council consi~eration within the next few weeks. The City Attorney stated that a list has been prepared of pending items and Council discussion /51f will be scheduled in me near future to prioritize the items. Within this segment of Kirkwood Avenue, lhrce lanes will be designated in the vicinity of the intersections with Dodge Street, Keokuk Street and Summit Street. City Engr.
