THE CITY COUNCIL OF IOWA CITY IS CONSIDERING AN Ap.
POINTMENT TO THE FOLLOWING COMMISSION:
HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
One vacancy. Unexpired Term
October 13. 1992 . March 29, 1993
Duties of the Historic Preservation Commission include:
conducting studies for the identification and designation of
Historic Districts; reviewing and acting upon all applications
for Certificate of Appropriateness; cooperating with property
owners and city agencies regarding remedy of dangerous
conditions; furthering the efforts of historic preservation In
the City by making recommendations on preservation issues,
when appropriate, by encouraging the protection and en.
hancement of structures with historical, architectural or
cultural value, and by encouraging persons and organizations
to become Involved in preservation activities,
This Commission meets the second Tuesday of each month
at 7:30 p,m, Iowa City appointed members of boards and
commissions must be eligible eiectors of the City of Iowa
City,
This appointment will be made at the October 13, 1992.
meeting of the City Council at 7:30 p.m, in the Council
Chambers. Persons Interested In being considered for this
position should contact the City Clerk at the Civic Center,
410 E, Washington Street, Application forms' are available
from the Clerk's office upon request,

current issues such as the house on Rundell Street and the home in a new
develooment area on the East side. Also the marking of properties and map.

I have a Ph. n. in American Art and have for a number of years written on
and tau ht architecture. I am also very interested in urban planning
and consider this to be integral to both the study of architectural
culture and the practical creation of pleasant living spaces.

about the commission with Robert Miklo.

APPLYING)? I own an old house in Iowa City and am vitally interested in preserving
the intep,rity of the city's neip,hborhoods. I am a new resident (1 year) and
