HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION

Duties of the Historic Preservation Commission include:
conducting studies for the identification and designation of
Historic Districts: reviewing and acting upon all applications
for Certificate of Appropriateness; cooperating with propeny
owners and city agencies regarding remedy of dangerous
conditions; furthering the efforts 01 historic preservation in
the City by making recommendations on preservation issues,
when appropriate, by encouraging the protection and en.
hancement of structures with historical, architectural or
cultural value, and by encouraging persons and organizations
to become invoived in preservation activities,
This Commission meets the second Tuesday of each month
at 7:30 p,m, Iowa City appointed members of boards and
commissions must be eligible electors of the City of Iowa
City.
This appointment wiil be made at the April 13, 1993.
meeting of the City Council at 7:30 p,m, In the Council
Chambers. Persons interested in being considered for this
position should contact the City Clerk at the Civic Center,
410 E. Washington Street. Application forms are available
from the Clerk's office upon request,

The City Council announced Adv isory Board/Commiss ion vacancies 90 days prior to the
date the appointment will be made. This period provides for a 30-day advertising period
and a 50-day training period for new members. The training period allows new members to
becOOle familiar with the responsibilities and duties of the advisory board/commission
before becoming a full voting member.
After a vacancy has been announced and the 30-day advertising period has expired, the
Council reviews all applications during the informal work sess,ion. The appointment is
announced at the next formal Council meeting. Appointees serve as unpaid volunteers.
Council prefers that all applications must be submitted to the City Clerk no later

ADVISORY BOARD/COMMISSION APPLICATION FORM
Individuals serving on Boards/Col1lOissions play an important role in advising the
Council on matters of interest to our COl1lOunity and its future. Applicants must reside
in Iowa City.
The City Counc i I announced Adv i sory Board/Col1lOi ss ion vacanc i es 90 days prior to the
date the appointment will be made. This period provides for a 30.day advertising period
and a 60-day training period for new members. The training period allows new members to
become familiar with the responsibilities and duties of the advisory board/COl1lOission
before becoming a full voting member.
After a vacancy has been announced and the 30-day advertising period has expired, the
Council reviews all applications during the informal work session. The appointment ;s
announced at the next formal Council meeting. Appointees serve as unpaid volunteers.
Council prefers that all applications must be submitted to the City Clerk no ,later
than one week prior to the announced appointment dates. PLEASE USE A BLACK INK PEN.

the Havor's Youth Employment Program. I designed, coordinated all of the training for the
youth employment program. Wrote and had approved the State's Pre-employment/work maturity
Competencv Training Svstem.

been here for one year, but I assume it conducts business similar to the council where I
was a member.
