Ubtrtll5, United Way of Johnson County has raised over $1 million
, from its 1994 Campaign, and
Bbmll5, this community's generosity allows United Way to fund 40 '
local human service agencies, and
Ubtrtl15, these agencies in turn serve over 30,000 residents of our
community, and
wtbmll5, the Parsons Technology Hospice Road Races have raised
$150,000 through the annual community event, and
Ubml15, over 650 volunteers generously contributed to the
overwhelming success of this event, ,

Nation by, constituting a significant portion ot the labor force working
inside and outside of the home; and
UbmllS, American women have played a unique role throughout the
history of our Nation by, providing the majority of the volunteer lahor
force of the Nation; and
_berellS, American women were )?articularly important in the estahlishment
of early chpritable, philanthropic, and dJtural institutions in our
Nation; and
_berellS, American women of every race, class, and ethnic background
served as early leaders in the forefront of every major progressive social
change movement; and
DbmllS, American women have been leaders, not only in securing their
own rights of suffrage and equal opportunity, but also jn the
aholitionist movement, the emancipation movement, the industrial
lahor movement, the civil rights movement, and other movements,
especiall,y the peace movement, which create a more fair and just
society tor all; and,
DberellSl, despite these contributions, the role of American women in
history has been consistently overlooked and undervalued, in the
literature, teaching and study of American history,
