February 3, 1994
Susan Horowitz, Mayor
city of Iowa city
410 East Washington
Iowa city, IA 52240
Honorable Mayor Horowitz,
I would like to take this time to inform you that I am resigning
from the Design Review committee effective immediately.
My husband and I will be moving to Palo Alto, California where he
accepted the position Mith the ReSound corporation and Stanford
university. We are extremely excited about the opportunities ahead,
however we are both sad to leave our associations and friends here
in Iowa city.
I have been honored to participate in the Design Review Committee's
activities. I also have great expectations from the Committee's
future endeavors since the present group is very dedicated and
competent, I wish them every success.
My congratulations on your appointment as a Mayor of this wonderful
community, and best wishes in your future endeavors.

Re: Advisory Board/Commission Application
I'"~
"
.
Dear CouncillBoard Members:
Please accept this statement as a recitation of my qualifications to serve on the Historic
Preservation Committee.
I have extensive knowledge in real estate development and the law related to it. I have on my
own, drafted a landmark ordinance. Before I started this ordinance, I contacted the Historic
Preservation Commission in Louisville, Kentucky and feel that these type of contacts are
invaluable.
, i
!
I believe that I can contribute significantly in that I have a strong passion for the historic aspects
of the homes and buildings in Iowa City, tempered with an understanding of the law and what
is necessary to preserve these buildings, I believe our city architectural heritage should be
preserved within the parameters of the law.
Presently, I own two homes both of which are approximately over 100 years old, I believe I
have first hand knowledge of the practical aspects and prohlems that arise in understanding the
preservation of the structures. '
~
I
I would hope that my application would be considered and accepted by the City Council.
Respectfully Submitted,
