Horo/ I would like to ask the counsel why this is necessary.
Erdahl/ Thanks and I want to say briefly how much we appreciate
this special meeting being called. I've gone thru this myself
when I was on council and I know it is really an imposition.
My client, Gary Sopher, had owned the bar previously and sold
it to another individual and it was going to revert back and
in the process of that there was yet a third person who was
going to own this bar and get it licensed. That deal fell
thru and while he anticipated that he might have to get a
license and probably could have done a better job...he really
didn't know for sure until last Sunday that deal was totally
off. Had this been a straight renewal, in other words had
Gary been renewing the license that he actually got last April
but then had sold, there wouldn't have been a need for this
meeting and it could have been done under the provision of
timely filing so that by way of explanation is not someone who
just sat around and didn't get things together. And we do
very much appreciate it. He would have lost $10,000-$12,000
in gross over the 10 days that it would have taken to do this
and we greatly appreciate you doing this for him.
