1. EXPERIENCE AND ACTIVITIES WHICH QUALIFY ME FOR TIDS
POSITION:
As a second year law student, I have taken both Property Law
I and II. During those courses we focused on many housing issues,
including: eminent domain, zoning, rent control, easements,
servitudes, and federal fair housing requirements.
As a student, I believe I could bring a unique perspective to
the commission also. Students have specific concerns when it comes
to housing in the community, and as an executive officer within the
student government, I am in a unique position to hear those concerns
and voice them to the commission.
2. PRESENT KNOWLEDGE OF THE BOARD
To my knowledge, the advisory board (1) oversees the Section
8 and Public Housing programs; (2) pursues additional housing
opportunities for all citizens; (3) oversees Housing Code and Housing
Inspection activities; (4) reviews loan applications for the Housing
Rehabilitation Program; (5) facilitates implementation of Congregate
Housing and Shared Housing programs; and (6) makes budget
recommendations of Housing Programs to the City Council.
3. CONTRIBUTIONS I CAN MAKE TO THE BOARD
Due to the fact that I am cUlTently a student, I feel that I can
bring a unique perspective to the Board. As I mentioned above,
since I work in the student government at the university, I am in a
unique position that allows me to hear student concerns. I can
represent the over 25,000 students in Iowa City by voicing their
concerns to the Board,

1 , EXPERIENCE AND ACTIVITIES WHICH QUALIFY ME FOR THIS
POSITION:
As a second year law student, I have taken both Property Law
I and II, During those courses we focused on many housing issues,
including: eminent domain, zoning, rent control, easements,
servitudes, and federal fair housing requirements.
As a student, I believe I could bring a unique perspective to
the commission also. Students have specific concerns when it comes
to housing in the community, and as an executive officer within the
student government, I am in a unique position to hear those concerns
and voice them to the commission,
2. PRESENT KNOWLEDGE OF THE BOARD
To my knowledge, the advisory board (I) oversees the Section
8 and Public Housing programs; (2) pursues additional housing
opportunities for all citizens; (3) oversees Housing Code and Housing
Inspection activities; (4) reviews loan applications for the Housing
Rehabilitation Program; (5) facilitates implementation of Congregate
Housing and Shared Housing programs; and (6) makes budget
recommendations of Housing Programs to the City Council.
3. CONTRIBUTIONS I CAN MAKE TO THE BOARD
Due to the fact that I am currently a student, I feel that I can
bring a unique perspective to the Board. As I mentioned above,
since I work in the student government at the university, I am in a
unique position that allows me to hear student concerns. I can
represent the over 25,000 students in Iowa City by voicing their
concerns to the Board.
