WHEREAS, April 14 is celebrated throughout the Americas as Pan American
Day in commemoration of the founding of the inter -American
system in 1890, and this year the week of April 10 - 16 has
been designated as Pan American Reek, and
WHEREAS, the anniversary of the inter -American system affords the
peoples of the hemisphere an opportunity to recognize the role
of the Organization of American States in maintaining peace and
security and in accelerating economic development and social
progress in the Americas, and
WHEREAS, it is a time for strengthening the spirit of solidarity and
cooperation that should prevail among the peoples of the American
countries,

WHEREAS, the laboratory work of scientific and technical personnel is
of invaluable assistance to physicians in providing health
