This event will take place on Saturday, i ASarch 11, '1978 at the Iowa City Aecreation Center. It starts at 1:00 p.m. and continues for twelve consecutive hours. I The purpose of this letter is to request a fee waiver for the use of the Recreation Center. Since, it will be used for a charitable event, we thought it might be possible to utilize this building free of charge. In case you all are not too familiar with this disease, it is a disease of the blood found predominantly among, black people. It may also affect peoples of the Caribbean, Latin American, Mediter- ranean and Asian areas. It is not contagious; it is inherited. About 1 out of every 400 blacks in America has the severe form of the disease (Sickle Cell Anemic) and 1 out of 10 has the mild form (Sickle Cell 'Trait). This means that the person wiih the trait may pass the disease on to his off -spring. The disease is incurable at this time.
