WHEREAS, there is an ever increasing need for better understanding of
how the lives of all Iowans, and often their jobs, are touched
by agriculture each day; and
WHEREAS, Iowa's farmers are becoming more aware of their role in supplying
products which fit consumers needs; and
WHEREAS, recognizing the impact Iowa Agriculture Day has had in opening lines
of communication between the agricultural industry and the rest of
Iowa and the nation's economic structure; and
WHEREAS, it is planned that this Agriculture Day will have as its theme,
"Almost Everything Starts on a Farm," which dramatically points
out the interaction and interdependence of rural and urban Ameri-
cans; and
WHEREAS, Iowa is the leading agricultural state in the nation, and has
taken the lead in paying tribute to the farmer who produces our
agricultural products;

WHEREAS, the Iowa City Regina High School boys' basketball team,
the Running Regals, has defeated Lake View - Auburn to
become State Champions, and
WHEREAS, Iowa City residents have reason to be especially proud of
local high school basketball teams, such as the Running
Regals of Regina who were State Champions in 1976 as well
as 1978, and the West High School Trojans who were State
Champions in 1977, since for a nineteen -year period prior
to 1976 no Iowa City high school team achieved the honor
of being State Champions,
