Councilmembers indicated a willingness to endorse & support Sun Day. A proclamation will be added to the May 2nd agenda. Public Hearing was held on the construction of a Public Housing Pro- gram. A fact sheet was distributed. Ted Rittenmever, 1119 E. Court, appeared objecting to the program & Bob Johnson, Mark IV Prop. Mgr., appeared favoring public housing. Berlin advised that the trees in the College St. mini -park 79 will be relocated by Project Green. Moved by deProsse, seconded by Neu- hauser, to adopt RES. 78-142, Bk. 47, p. 316, ESTABLISHING CITY'S INTENT TO DEVELOP AND MANAGE A MULTI-PURPOSE SENIOR CENTER. Affirmative roll call vote unanimous, 6/0, Balmer absent. The need to define the manage- ment role at this time was explained. 7172 - Concerning Atty. Mullen's request re lease for Bus Depot, the City Manager commented that the Comprehensive Plan did not affect the bus depot area, & staff felt that it is an ideal location for a bus depot. City Atty. Hayek advised that the legal department would review the lease before it is added to Council's agenda. The City Manager stated that he did not have all the costs for moving of "Old Jet", but would furnish them to Council later. Councilwoman deProsse noted that she had already observed "No Smoking" signs in a restaurant. Ed Zastrow, Bushnell's Turtle, had advised her that the State Historical Society had reviewed their request for a $5,000 rg-a t for restoration o o e e Block Build• inq, and thru Adrian Anderson s efforts, an additional $5,000 grant had 793 been awarded them. City Manager Berlin announced that on Wednesday morning, 9 AM, at the Chamber of Commerce office, Business Development Inc. would announce the new industry to locate in Iowa City. S'�! Moved by deProsse, seconded by Neuhauser, that the ORDINANCE ESTABLISH- ING A HOUSING OCCUPANCY AND MAINTENANCE CODE be considered and given first vote for passage. Council discussed the Code's application to single family residences. City Atty. Hayek explained the rights of property own- ers. Those appearing included Adrian Rittenmever. 1402 Davenport; Fran- cine Davis, 709 6th Ave.; Ted Rittenmever, 1119 E. Court & Bruce Burke, I.C. Sr. Housing Inspector. Motion to consider carried unanimously. Roll call vote: Ayes: Erdahl, Neuhauser, Perret, Vevera, deProsse. Nays: Roberts. Motion carried, 5/1, Balmer absent. 9S Moved by Neuhauser, seconded by Roberts, to adopt RES. 78-143, Bk. 47, pp. 317-334, AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT WITH JOHNSON COUPITY, IOWA, FOR PARTIAL SETTLEMENT OF URBAN RENEWAL TAX LITIGATION. Roll call vote: Ayes: Neuhauser, Roberts, Vevera, deProsse, Erdahl. Nays: Perret.
