DuCharme Resignation from Board of Appeals Dear Tim: Please consider this my resignation from the Board of Appeals effective immediately. It has been my pleasure to make a small contribution to the valuable work the committee performs. The City of Iowa City is committed to the utmost in safety for its citizens and it has been gratifying to help support some of those initiatives. As you are aware, I have moved to the Pacific Northwest to pursue a new career opportunity. This was a difficult decision, and one that was considered very carefully. The timing for this move seems right and having been here for a week it seems to be living up to its promise. On a personal note, it was with regret that I was unable to stay to see your new projects completed. I am confident, however, that those taking over my responsibilities will do so with the utmost care and professionalism. Of course, you will continue to have Dr. Vincent's leadership as these projects come online. Please accept my best wishes for your continued success with the City's HIS and with the Clear Creek Amana School Board. Your service to this wonderful school district has been a key part in the success of your building program. On a professional note, I appreciated the opportunity to share viewpoints on the Il1auy projects we reviewed with you and Loren Brumm. Please know that your insights and integrity has been a big contributor to the success of these projects and to the improved safety for the public. Best wishes, Tim, for your continued success. In order to finish law school this semester, I am taking a class on Thursday nights. Unfortunately, the class meets from 6 pm to 8 p.m. Obviously, this makes it impossible for me to attend commission meetings. I think it would be in the best interest of the commission if I were to step down from my position. I consider this unfortunate, because I enjoy the commission and the work it does. I commend you and HPC on the good work that it does, and wish you the best ofluck. Thank you for all of your help. John McCormally. 1
