AN ORDIRCE anerding Chapter 31, Article V,
Division 3, "ICE Ata SNOW Fs4OVAL" of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Iowa City, Ioa, by adding
thereto a new section to be codified as Section
31-124, Prwiding Pegulations for the Ranoval of
Snow and Ice iron Private Property.
BE IT O2I14INED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
IOWA CITY, IDWA:
SECTION I. That Chapter 31, Article V, Division
3,7CE-9U'SNOW RHVAL" of the Cade of Ordinances
of the City of Ios city, Ios, be, and the sane is
hereby anended by adding thereto the following new
section as Section 31-124, entitled "Removal by
Individuals", as follohs:
Section 31-124. Removal by individuals.
(a) It shall be unlawful for any property ohne
or person in possession to remove or allow
to be removed fron his or he property,
snow and/or ice accunulations and to place
such accurulations on the private property
of another.
(b) It shall be unlawful for any property owner
or person in possession to remove or allow
to be reoved from his or her property,
snow and/or ice accurulations in such a key
as to deposit such accumulations on public
Property or public right-of-way causing a
traffic obstruction, sight obstruction,
Pedestrian obstruction or any other such
hazard or obstruction.
(c) It shall be unlawful for any property owner
or person in possession to remove or allow
to be rerwed from his or her property
snow and/or ice accurulations and to push,
transport, or carry such accumulations
into, upon, or across a street or alley
right-of-way for the purpose of depositing
same on the other side of said street or
alley right-of-aey without the prior ap-
proval of the superintendent of streets.
This provision shall not apply to the
hauling of snow and/or ice for deposit on
private property with the consent of the
ohne thereof.
(d) This Section shall not be construed to
apply to or to limit the normal snow plow-
irg operations performed by the City of
Im City. The snow plowing operations
performed by the City are exempt fran the
application of this Section.
SECTION II. SEVERABILITY: If any of the provi-
sions o ns nuance are for any reason declared
illegal or void, then the lawful provisions of this
Ordinance, which are severable from said unlawful

provisions, shall be and renain in full force and
effect, the sare as if the Ordinarre contained no
illegal or void provisions.
SECTION III. REPEALER: All ordinances and parts
of ordinances in ccntlict with the provisions of
this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION IV. EFFECTIVE DATE: This O dinance
shall be in effect after its final passage, approval
and publication as required by la,
