of the Iowa City Historic Preservation Ordinance and formation
of the Historic Preservation Coamission through her efforts on
the Council appointed Ad Hoc Historic Preservation Task Force;
and
WhePF-AS, Margaret Nowysz has served with distinction as Chairperson of
the Historic Preservation Commission since Its formation In 1982
through October of 1987; and
argaret Nowysz was instrumental In the designation of the

Summit Street and Noodlawn Avenue neighborhoods as National
Register Historic Districts; and
W�1P�zFA3, Margaret Nowysz possesses the leadership skills and enthusiasm
to be a driving force behind historic preservation efforts In
Iowa City; and

appreciate and take price In the historic, architectural and
cultural resources which have richly contributed to quality,
Integrity and Identity of what we call our home .- Iowa City,
Iowa; and

honor Margaret Nowysz for her invaluable contribution and
personal commitment to the safeguarding of the City's historic,
architectural and cultural heritage for current and future
generations.

RESOLUTION RECLASSIFYING POSITIONS IN THE TREASURY DIVISION AND
THE LIBRARY.
WHEREAS, the City Council has established a classification/compensation
plan for AFSCME employees; and
WHEREAS, the classification plan of the City of Iowa City was established
and is maintained to reflect through job classification and compensation
the level of job duties and responsibilities performed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF IOWA CITY, IOWA,
that
I. A position of Clerk/Typist - Treasury in range 03 be reclassified to
range 04 and be retitled Account Clerk.
2. A position of Sr. Library Clerk in range 04 be reclassified to range
06 and be retitled Library Assistant I.

RESOLUTION NO. 88-.i1
RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO TERMINATE CONTRACT WITH METCALF AND
EDDY, INC., AND AUTHORIZING THE GIVING OF NOTICE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the City of Iowa City did on June 17, 1986, enter into a contract
with Metcalf & Eddy, Inc. (%E), entitled "AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF
IOWA CITY AND METCALF & EDDY, INC. FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING AND PRO-
FESSIONAL MANAGEMENT SERVICES (hereinafter "the Contract"), pursuant to
which Contract M&E agreed to design certain improvements to the City's
wastewater collection and treatment system, to manage the construction of
said improvements, and to provide overall project management services to
assure that the system would meet Federal and State wastewater discharge
requirements within the timeframes specified by Federal and State regula-

Schedule, Section 3 of the Contract; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 88-28, adopted on February 9, 1988
and thereafter served upon Metcalf & Eddy, Inc. NE), this City Council
declared a default by M&E in its performance of its obligations under said
Contract and demanded the cure thereof by M&E by execution of an Addendum
to the Contract; and
WHEREAS, M&E has failed to execute the Addendum to the Contract as re-
quested by the City; and
WHEREAS, M&E's default in the performance of its contractual obligations
remains uncured; and
WHEREAS, unless M&E executes the Addendum to the Contract thereby agreeing
to bring its performance into closer conformance with Contract require-
ments, this City Council intends to terminate its C
ontract with M&E.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE AND IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED
