in the Nazi Holocaust as part of a systematic
program of genocide, and millions of other people
perished as victims of Nazism, and
w2z e v e a s , the people of the City of Iowa City should alwags
remember the atrocities committed hg the Nazis so
that such horrors are never repeated, and
wiz e r e a s , the people of the City of Iowa City shauld contin-
ually rededicate themselves to the principle of
equal justice for all people, and
w2zx_- r e a s , the people of the City of Iowa City should remain
eternallg vigilant against all tyranny, and recog-
nize that bigotry provides a breeding ground for
tyranny to flourish, and

the Crisis Center has provided valuable services
to our community since 1970 and will be involved
in many activities during the week of April 23 -
29, 1989, to celebrate the 19th gear of service,
and
W e r e a s ,
the wide range of services at the Crisis Center
has touched the lives of many people of all ages
and backgrounds through the provision of short-
term counseling, suicide intervention and pre-
vention, information and referral, cammunitg
education, food bank, emergency financial assist-
ance, and message relay for deaf persons, and
wh e v e a s ,
the agency provides this direct service to clients
through the efforts of aver 100 trained volunteers
from the communitg, and

appreciation for the efforts of the Crisis Center
staff and the mang volunteers,
