Re: Amendment to Accessory Use Provisions of the Zoning Ordinance
The enclosed amendment provides for accessory uses to manufacturing in
commercial zones where manufacturing is permitted (limited manufacturing
is permitted as a principal use only in the CI -1 zone). When the CI -1
zone was changed to permit a limited amount of manufacturing, Section 36-
65(d)(2) of the Code dealing with permitted accessory uses was not
changed; technically, no accessory uses such as warehousing or offices
would be permitted with establishment of a manufacturing use. The
amendment proposed allows manufacturing uses to have any of the accessory
uses currently permitted for commercial uses. This amendment in no way
changes the intent or effect of recent revisions to the CI -1 zone
regarding the size of manufacturing uses permitted there.
