has adapted a Freedom Week Program dedicated
to the reemphasis of the values and responsi-
bilities of man in a free society, and

tribution of copies of the Bill of Rights and
the Declaration of Independence throughout
its entire membership of clubs, and

planning to carry out special patriotic acti-
vities in the farm of the National Heritage

forces have served this nation in times of bath
peace and mar, and in doing so have therebg assured
the independence of all her people, and
Whereas , more than a million veterans enter Veterans Adminis-
tration medical facilities nationwide for medical
attention annuallg, and
whereas , these hospitalized veterans who yet bear the physical
and emotional scars of mar have most surely earned
our gratitude for the mang personal sacrifices they
have made in our behalf, and
whereas , the Veterans Administration, for the fourteenth con-
secutive year, has organized a national day of tribute
honoring all hospitalized veterans with the purpose
of urging all Americans to remember these men and
women especiallg an this day, and
Whereas , we wish to express to the patients in the Iowa VA
Medical Centers our concern, care and sincere appre-
ciation,

disease of goung adults with no known cause or
cure, afflicting two million people worldwide
and striking 200 new people each week... gaung
people worldwide who are starting their families
and careers, and
Wb er¢ as , Students Against multiple Sclerosis is a new
national collegiate movement which will increase
the public's awareness of multiple sclerosis
while establishing long-term fund raising support
for the National multiple Sclerosis Society, and
lUhg r e a s , Students Against multiple sclerosis embodies the
spirit of valuntarism and charitable giving, and
iUha ra a s , the students at the gniversitg of Iowa have de-
dicated themselves to being part of the generation
which can eradicate multiple sclerosis through the
invnivement of their campus, community and fellow
citizens in educational and fund raising events
throughout the month of February 1987,

Ralph Reppei, a resident of Iowa Citg since
1964, succumbed to cancer an Cuesdag,
January 27, 1987, and
Whereas ,
Ralph served his countrg with valor during
marld mar 11 and was labeled a here after
a battle during which he was mounded to the
extent that he lost bath legs, and
Wh areas ,
Ralph was awarded the Medal of Ronar, our
Countrg's highest honor, bg President Truman
in 1945 and the Iowa Valor Medal bg Cavernor
Rag in 1981, and

Ralph continued to be labeled a hern through-
out his life, although he was reluctant to
accept that title, because of his courage in
overcoming his handicap and because of his
life's work of helping veterans and handi-
capped people, and

we wish to join Ralph's familg and friends in
honoring him far his spirit and courage which
was an inspiration to the mang people mho knew
and laved him,
