P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, Sears, Roebuck and Company is marking its 100th
anniversary in 1986, and
WHEREAS, Sears, Roebuck and Company has been a member of
the Iowa City business community since October 27,
1928, and
WHEREAS, Sears management and its employee family have been
active participants in community activities, and
WHEREAS, ninety percent of Sears goods and services are
purchased from American suppliers in communities
where it does business, and
WHEREAS, Sears further enhances Iowa City's economy through
its employment as well as fair -share payment of
state and local taxes, and
WHEREAS, Sears contributes to the overall Iowa economy
through the purchase of $296 million worth of
goods from 68 manufacurers,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, William J. Ambrisco, Mayor of Iowa
City, Iowa, do hereby congratulate Sears on its
centennial and wish it success for another 100
years of meeting American consumer needs.

of Iowa City, Iowa, do hereby proclaim the week
of April 5 - 12, 1986, as WEEK OF THE YOUNG
CHILD in Iowa City and urge all residents to
become more aware of and more involved in the
efforts to provide quality care for our young
children.

WHEREAS, the health of all Americans depends upon
educated minds and trained hands, and
WHEREAS, the practice of modern medicine at the exacting
standards we now enjoy would be impossible
without the scientific tests performed daily
in the medical laboratory, and
WHEREAS, maintenance of these standards and progress
towards improvement in the quality of labora-
tory services depend on the dedicated efforts
of professional practitioners of medical lab-
oratory science, and
WHEREAS, through this dedication, the medical labora-
tories of the United States have made a vital
contribution to the quality of health care,
/ NOW, THEREFORE, I, William J. Ambrisco, Mayor of the
f City of Iowa City, Iowa, do hereby proclaim
the week of April 13 - 19, 1986, as MEDICAL
LABORATORY WEEK in Iowa City and urge all
citizens to recognize and support the vital
service provided by our local laboratory
practitioner for the benefit of our citizens.
