IOWA Cf1Y, IOWA 52240 (319) 356-50DO P R O C L A M A T I O N WHEREAS, nearly six hundred members of the Great Peace March for Global Nuclear Disarmament will be arriving in the Iowa City/Coralville area on July 26 and 27; 1986, and WHEREAS, The Great Peace March involves people from all walks of life and all ages, gathered together from all parts of the United States and other countries and includes 18 Iowans five of which are from the Iowa City/Coralville area - Roger Solberg, Laura Rawson, Bill Carter, Kay Murrens and her five-year old son Mark, and WHEREAS, they have all put aside their daily lives of home, family, friends, and careers to dedicate themselves to their task, and we applaud their commitment to the peaceful future of our planet by walking across the United States from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C., with the goal of global nuclear disarmament, and WHEREAS, they are inspiring many people, organizations, churches, and cities to work together toward the common goal of removing nuclear weapons, NOW, THEREFORE, in the spirit of the citizens who have affirmed Iowa City as a Nuclear Weapons Free Zone, I hereby pro- claim the week of July 21 - 28, 1986, as GREAT PEACE MARCH WEEK in Iowa City. IOWA CITY, IOWA 52240 (319) 356-5C0C) P R O C L A M A T I O N WHEREAS, nuclear medicine provides a significant contri- bution to the medical diagnosis and treatment of patients in America, and WHEREAS, nuclear medicine provides a safe and cast effec- tive approach to medical care, and WHEREAS, the practice of nuclear medicine is used to and diagnose and treat a wide sprectrum of diseases, WHEREAS, nuclear medicine techniques are widely used in a variety of scientific research activities; NOW, THEREFORE, I, William J. Ambrisco, Mayor of the City of Iowa City, Iowa, do proclaim the week of July 27 - August 2, 1986, as NUCLEAR MEDICINE WEEK in Iowa City and urge all citizens to recognize and support the vital contributions made by nuclear medicine.
