ROLL CALL. Item No. 2 - CONSIDER A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE SOLICITATION OF OFFERS AND RECEIPT OF BIDS TO PURCHASE CERTAIN LAND FOR PRIVATE REDEVELOPMENT, KNOWN AS PARCEL "A-1" LOCATED IN THE LOWER RALSTON CREEK AREA OF IOWA CITY; SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING FOR FEBRUARY 26, 1985, ON THE PROPOSED SALE AND CONVEYANCE OF SAID LAND; AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO PUBLISH NOTICE OF SUCH ACTIONS. Comment: The disposition of City -awned land in the Lower Ralston Creek Area was discussed by the City Council on January 8. Adoption of this resolution will allow the City to bid this particular parcel of land for private redevelopment. Additional information concerning the disposition of this property is included in the agenda packet. Action: Item No. 3 - CONSIDER AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH PARTIAL PROPERTY"TAX ,3 L30a_____EXEMPTIONS FOR INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY (passed and adopted). Comment: In accordance with the City Council's policy to encourage economic development in Iowa City, the proposed ordinance permits the abatement of property taxes over a five-year period on new construction on industrial properties and on expansions of industrial uses, as defined by Chapter 427 of the Iowa Code.
