P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, the vast majority of Iowa City's youth are concerned,
knowledgeable, and responsible citizens, and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments and achievements of these young
citizens deserve the recognition and praise of their
peers and elders, and
WHEREAS, the Iowa City West High School Good Time Company has
proven exceptional musical talent in their years of
performing for the Iowa City community, and
WHEREAS, the Good Time Company has been selected to represent
the State of Iowa at the Young Americans National
Invitational Performance Choir Festival in Hollywood,
California, from March 24 to 31, 1985, and
WHEREAS, the Young Americans "Invitational" will bring national
attention to excellence in choral music and showmanship
that is present in the high schools in every state
throughout the United States, and
WHEREAS, the Good Time Company will experience an entire week of
workshops, varied show business activities, and pre-
paration for competition that will select the finest
high school Performance Choir in the nation, and
WHEREAS, due to the need to raise funds to pay the expenses of
this exceptional educational opportunity, the Good
Time Company is asking the community to support their
performing efforts and also the sponsors who have given
their time and efforts, and
WHEREAS, we join the Good Time Company in expressing appreciation
and approval of the contributions of these youth by in-
viting the citizens of Iowa City to the Benefit, "Go,
West, Good Time" Concert at West High Auditorium on
March 22, with performances at 7:00 and 9:00 P.M.,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, John McDonald, Mayor of the City of Iowa City,
Iowa, do hereby proclaim the week of March 11 - 18, 1985,
as IOWA CITY WEST'S GOOD TIME COMPANY WEEK.
