IOWA CITY, IOWA 52240 (319) 356-50ZO P R O C L A M A T I O N WHEREAS, in May 1980 MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) was organized to promote tougher anti -drunk driving laws in order to remove impaired drivers from our roads, streets and highways, and WHEREAS, MADD has also organized an assistance program to help the victims of drunk driving accidents, and WHEREAS, these victims include not only the person involved in the accident, but their families and society as a whole because of the loss of human lives, and WHEREAS, during the past decade 250,000 people have died because of alcohol-related crashes; presently over 25,000 people are killed each year; about 500 people are killed each week; nearly 70 people are killed every day; one person dies every 21 minutes, and WHEREAS, we want to put an end to this tragic waste of human life and untold suffering of the survivors and their families, NOW, THEREFORE, 1, William J. Ambrisco, Mayor of the City of Iowa City, Iowa, do hereby proclaim October 19 - 25, 1986, as MOTHERS AGAINST DRUNK DRIVING WEEK in Iowa City, in order to call attention to the work of MADD and to urge all residents to join •in the efforts of this organization. IOWA CITY, IOWA 52240 (319)356-50M P R O C L A M A T I O N WHEREAS, maintaining top physical condition is an important goal shared by citizens, medical professionals and qualified practitioners specializing in the use of radiation and the treatment of disease, and WHEREAS, a safe radiological environment is made possible through the dedication and care of radiologic technologists, and WHEREAS, the contributions of these radiologic technologists, nuclear medicine technologists, diagnostic medical sonography technologists and radiation therapy technologists in our State are helping our citizens live longer, healthier lives, and WHEREAS, these contributions are the result of education, research and greater understanding, NOW, THEREFORE, I, William J. Ambrisco, Mayor of the City of Iowa City, Iowa do hereby proclaim November 3 - 9, 1986, as RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY WEEK in Iowa City, and urge all citizens to recognize this event and participate in its observance. IOWA CITY, IOWA 52240 (319) 356-= I P R O C L A M A T I O N WHEREAS, Alpha Phi Omega National Coed Service Fraternity on the campus of the University of Iowa has been performing valuable service for over three years since the reinstatement of the chapter and forty- two years prior to reinstatement, and WHEREAS, it has been suggested that a day be dedicated to encourage all of our citizens to participate in activities which would benefit the general welfare of our society, and WHEREAS, such a day will help rekindle the general spirit of our community, and WHEREAS, a great benefit would be realized by our citizens if such a large outpouring of service could be organized, NOW, THEREFORE, I william J.
