This action will take place on or shortly after December 18, 1986. COMMENT: This action is being taken to facilitate turning movements for the City's bus system. This action took place on November 18, 1986. COMMENT: This portion of Gryn Drive was recently completed and open to traffic. KARR CITY CLERK (1) City of Iowa City MEMORANDUM Date: December 1, 1986 To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: James Brachtel, Traffic Engineer Re: Stop Sign on Phoenix Drive at Rohret Road Pursuant to Section 23-16 of the Municipal Code of Iowa City, this is to advise you of the following action: ACTION: Pursuant to Section 23-160 of the Municipal Code of Iowa City, the City Traffic Engineer has directed the installation of a STOP sign on Phoenix Drive at its intersection with Rohret Road so as to cause vehicles on Phoenix Drive to stop prior to entering Rohret Road. This action took place on November 26, 1986. COMMENT: Phoenix Drive is a recently completed street that intersects with Rohret Road. It has been open for traffic. KARR CITY CLERK (1) 19�f� .3 (49') City of Iowa City MEMORANDUM Date: December 9, 1986 To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: James Brachtel, Traffic Engineer Re: Parking Prohibition on Southgate Avenue As directed by Section 23-16 of the Municipal Code of Iowa City, this is to advise you of the following action: ACTION: Pursuant to Section 23-234 of the Municipal Code of Iowa City, the City Traffic Engineer will direct the installation of NO PARKING ANY TIME signs on both the north and south sides of Southgate Avenue from its intersection with Waterfront Drive, east to its intersection with Keokuk Street. This action will take place on or shortly after December 24, 1986. COMMENT: Southgate Avenue is part of the City's collector and arterial street system. Commercial property abutting both north and south has been developing with new businesses in the area. New business in the area has increased the amount of traffic being carried by Southgate Avenue. In addition, new drive- waysS Southgate Avenue een creatediimprove the site distance formoval of vehicles entering alon Southgate Avenue from the abutting properties. This action will take place on or shortly after December 24, 1986. COMMENT: Keokuk Street is part of the City's collector -arterial street system. Dept of Iowa City is renting Santa suits for $4.00 per day. I own and operate a small business in Iowa City and business is the ' part of my manufacture, sale and rental of costumes. At this time of e r part of our business is the sale and rental of Santa costumes 1 pay sales tax, road tax, property tax and income tax, and although You probably dont[ think I" that that is enough, I am outraged to find myself in direct competition with the local government that is utilizing my tax dollars. $15.00 My costumes rent for per day, and I cannot possibly compete with compete with the Recreation or should have Dept.. to Why Is it necessary for the city to rent Santa suits? I think of a few reasons: can only I)You are bored. 2)You need something for city employees to do. or 3)You are Just trying to find ways to waste m y tax money.
