As a result, the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Administrators (NATOA) is asking that municipalities file Comments in the Commission's franchising proceeding (MB Docket No. 05-311) (The City has sent comments to the FCC in response to this NPRM) IN THE IOWA DISTRICT COURT FOR SCOTT COUNTY RICHARD W. CURTIS, on behalf of himself and all others similarly situated, Plaintiff vs. CITY OF BETTENDORF, IOWA, Defendant Case No. 107001 PETITION Jury Demanded KRAGNES CASE: DES MOINES • Lisa Kragnes sued in 2004 claiming the franchise fee is an illegal tax. • A judge's decision on utility franchise fees would mean Des Moines could lose nearly $13 million/year in R ~ revenues. • The March court case could affect how a handful of other cities collect the franchise fee.
