Because of financial limitations, the City Council is considering various
revisions in transit service:
1. Reduce service to hourly during "non -peak" times (probably
9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.), Monday through Friday.
2. Reduce service to hourly all day Saturday.
3. Institute a 25 -cent fare for the elderly and handicapped
during "non -peak" times.
4. Eliminate the Ridership Appreciation Day.
5. Revise work schedules and savings in maintenance.
These changes will produce savings of approximately $249,500 before July 1,
1986.
If you do not wish to attend the public hearing, you may express your views
by writing to the City Council in care of the City Clerk, 410 East Washington,
Iowa City, Iowa 52240.

to the 1985 Community Development Block
Grant 'Program and Budget.

REGARDING PROPOSED IOWA CITY TRANSIT
FARE AND SERVICE LEVEL ADJUSTMENTS
I. Notice is hereby given that a public
hearing will be held by the City
Council at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Decem-
ber 17, 1985, in the Iowa City Civic
Center, 410 E. Washington Street,
Iowa City, Iowa for the purpose of
receiving citizen input on proposed
Iowa City Transit fare and service
level adjustments described below.
A. Description of Proposed Adiust-
ments.
1. During non-peak hours (week-
days 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and
evenings after 6:30 p.m., and
all day Saturday), the eld-
;; erly and handicapped fare
will be increased from the
current free fare to 25t per
t? trip.
2. During non-peak hours (week-
days 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and
evenings after 6:30 p.m., and
all day Saturday), transit
service on all routes will
decrease from two trips per
hour to one trip per hour.
B. Effective Date of the Proposed
Ad ustments.

take effect Monday. January 6,
1986.
II. At the hearing the City Council of
Iowa City will afford an opportunity
for interested persons to be heard
with respect to these proposed ad-
justments. Comments may be submitted
orally or in writing. Written com-
ments may be submitted at the hearing
or to the Office of the City Clerk at
the above-listed address.
III. Additional information in regards to
the proposed adjustments may be
obtained by calling Iowa City Transit
at 356-5154 or the Transportation
Planning Division at 356-5253.
