ORDINANCE AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF
THE CITY OF IOWA CITY, IOWA, BY ADOPTING
THE 1982 EDITION OF THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE
WITH CERTAIN AMENDMENTS:
Notice is hereby given that a public
hearing will be held by the Iowa City
Council of Iowa City, Iowa, at 7:30 p.m.
on the 20th day of December, 1983, in the
Council Chambers in the Civic Center, Iowa
City, Iowa. At which hearing, the Council
will consider arguments for or against the
proposed adoption of the 1982 Edition of
the above-named Uniform Code, together
with the ordinance setting forth other
modification. A copy of said Code and
said Ordinance is now on file in the
office. of the City Clerk of Iowa City,
Iowa, for examination by persons inter-
ested therein.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON AN AMENDMENT
TO CHAPTER 8 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF
IOWA CITY, IOWA BY CREATING A NEW ARTICLE
I, ARTICLE II, ARTICLE III AND BY MOVING
PLUMBING FROM CHAPTER 28 TO ARTICLE IV OF
CHAPTER 8, AND BY DELtTION OF THE ENTIRE
CHAPTER 28.
IN THE CITY OF IOWA CITY, IOWA
TO ALL TAXPAYERS OF THE CITY OF IOWA CITY,
IOWA, AND TO OTHER PERSONS INTERESTED:
Public notice is hereby given that the
City Council of the City of Iowa City,
Iowa will conduct a public hearing on an
amendment to Chapter 8 of the Code of
Ordinances of Iowa City, Iowa, by the
following articles:
A new Article I, Building Code, shall be
created by adopting the 1982 edition of
the Uniform Building Code, and the Uniform
Building Code Standards, as promulgated by
the International Conference of Building
Officials; and by amending certain
sections of said code. The Code as
amended shall be known as the Iowa City
Building Code or the Building Code.
A new Article II, Abatement of Dangerous
Buildings, shall be created by adopting
the 1982 edition of the Uniform Code for
the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings, as
promulgated by the International Confer-
ence of Building officials; and by
amending certain sections of said Code.
The Code as amended shall be known as the
Iowa City Abatement of Dangerous Buildings
Code or the Abatement of Dangerous
Building Code.
A new Article III, Mechanical Code,
shall be created by adopting the 1982
edition of the Uniform Mechanical Code, as
promulgated by the International Confer-
ence of Building Officials, and the
International Association of Plumbing and
Mechanical Officials; and by amending
certain sections of said Code. The code
as amended shall be known as the Iowa City
Mechanical Code, or the Mechanical Code.
A new Article IV, Plumbing Code, shall
be created by adopting the 1982 edition of
the Uniform Plumbing Code, as promulgated
by the International Association of
Plumbing and Mechanical Officials; and by
amending certain sections of said code.
The Code as amended shall be known as the
Iowa City Plumbing Code, or the Plumbing
Code.

The public hearing shall be held at 7:30
PM on Tuesday, December 20, 1983, said
hearing to be held in the Council Chambers
in the Civic Center.
Copies of said amendment are on file for
public examination in the Office of the
City Clerk.
This notice is given by order of the
City Council of the City of Iowa City.
