NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER
AMENDMENTS TO THE TREE REGULATIONS,
SECTION 36-72 OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE.
Notice is hereby given that a public
hearing will be held by the City Council
of Iowa City, Iowa, at 7:30 p.m. on the
3rd day of July, 1984, in the Council
Chambers in the Civic Center, Iowa City,
Iowa; at which hearing the Council will
consider amendments to the Tree Regula-
tions of the Zoning Ordinance. This
notice is given pursuant to Chapter 414 of
the Code of Iowa, 1984.

Notice is hereby given that a public
hearing will be held by the City Council
of Iowa City, Iowa, at 7:30 p.m. on the
3rd day of July, 1984, in the Council
Chambers in the Civic Center, Iowa City,
Iowa; at which hearing the Council will
consider an amendment to the Zoning
Ordinance to delete the term tree island
and to provide a definition of a planting
area. This notice is given pursuant to

REGARDING PURCHASE OF SIX 6 F NEW 47 -
PASSENGER TRANSIT COACHES, SIX (6) RADIOS,
AND SIX (6) FAREBOXES BY THE CITY OF IOWA
CITY THROUGH AN URBAN MASS TRANSPORTATION
AD14INISTRATION GRANT.
I. Notice is hereby given that a public
hearing will be held by the City Council
at 7:30 P.M. on July 3, 1984, in the Iowa
City Civic Center, 410 E. Washington
Street, Iowa City, Iowa, for the purpose
of considering a project for which
assistance is being sought from the Urban
Mass Transportation Administration,
pursuant to the Urban Mass Transportation
Act of 1964, as amended, generally
described as follows:
A. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
1. The City of Iowa City is applying
for UMTA grant funds to purchase the
following:
a. Six (6) new 47 -passenger diesel
transit coaches.
b. Six (6) bus radios.
c. Six (6) fareboxes.
2. Federal grant request - $742,500
Local contribution - $247,500
Total estimated
project cost $990,000
3. The local contribution will be from
the following sources: City of Iowa City -
$247,500.
B. RELOCATION
No persons, families or businesses will
be displaced by this project.
C. ENVIRONMENT
The project will not have an adverse
impact on the environment.
0. COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING
This project is in conformance with
comprehensive land use and transportation
plans in the Iowa City/Coralville urban-
ized area. This project is currently
under review according to Regional
Intergovernmental Review procedures.
E. ELDERLY AND HANDICAPPED
Special efforts are presently being
undertaken, and will continue to be
undertaken, to serve the special transpor-
tation needs of the elderly and handi-
capped.
F. None of the above -listed public
agencies will be engaging in school bus
operations.

G. None of the abo% listed public
agencies will be engaging in charter bus
operations.
H. No detrimental impacts to private
enterprise will occur as a result of this
project. Positive impacts to private
enterprise will result due to the increase
in mobility created by this project.
II. At the hearing, the City Council of
Iowa City will afford an opportunity for
interested persons or agencies to be heard
with respect to the social, economic and
environmental aspects of the project.
Interested, persons may submit, orally or
in writing, evidence and recommendations
with respect to said project.
III. A copy of the Federal Grant applica-
tion for the proposed project, together
with the transportation plan for this
area, are available for public inspection
at the City of Iowa City Clerk's Office,
in the Iowa City Civic Center.

Tuesday, July 3, 1984, at 7:30 p.m. in the

Description for the proposed use of
$71,500 in Rental Rehabilitation Grant

(JACKSON SQUARE ASSOCIATES PROJECT)
Notice is hereby given that a public
hearing will be conducted before the
Council of the City of Iowa City, Iowa, in
the Council Chambers at the Civic Center,
Iowa City, Iowa, at 7:30 o'clock P.M., on
June 19, 1984, on the proposal to issue
not to exceed $900,000 principal amount of
the City's Commercial Development Revenue
Bonds (Jackson Square Associates Project)
pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 419
of the Code of Iowa, for the purpose of
financing all or a portion of the cost of
acquiring, improving and equipping a 27
unit housing complex for the elderly to be
located at the Southeast corner of the
intersection of Court and Dubuque Streets
within the area of and consistent with the
city's Neighborhood Development Plan. The
proposed facilities will be owned by
Jackson Square Associates, an Iowa general
partnership (the "Company"). It is
contemplated that a Loan Agreement will be
entered into between the City and the
Company, under which the City would loan
to said Company the proceeds from the sale
of the Bonds in return for loan payments
from the Company sufficient to pay the
principal of, interest and premium, if
any, on such Bonds as the same shall full
due.
Such Bonds, if issued, and the
interest thereon will be payable solely
out of the revenues derived from said Loan
Agreement and shall never constitute an
indebtedness of said City within the
meaning of any state constitutional
provision or statutory limitation, and
shall not constitute nor give rise to a
pecuniary liability of said City or a
charge against its general credit or
taxing powers.
All local residents who appear at said
hearing shall be given an opportunity to
express their views for or against the
proposal to issue said Bonds, and at said
hearing, or any adjournment thereof, the
Council of said City shall adopt a
resolution determining whether or not to
proceed with the issuance of said Bonds.
