WHEREAS, the vast majnritg of the youth are concerned,
knowledgeable and responsible citizens, and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments and achievements of these
Maung citizens deserve the recognition and
praise of their elders, and
WHEREAS, we have faith in the ability of todag's Mouth
as they assume responsible roles in the future
of mankind, and
WHEREAS, optimist International has since 1954 developed
and pramated a program entitled "youth Appre-
ciatian Week", and
WHEREAS, we want to join with the optimists in expressing
appreciation and approval of the contributions
of the youth,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jahn m0nuald, Bogor of the City of
Iowa Citg, Iowa, do hereby proclaim the week
of November 11 - 17, 1984, as BOOM APPRECIATION
WEEK in Iowa City.

WHEREAS, Alpha Phi omega National Service Fraternity
On the campus Of Me University of Iowa has
Leen performing valuable service since last
Bear's reinstatement of the chapter and forty -
ton gears prior to reinstatement, and
i' WHEREAS, it has been suggested that a Lay be dedicated
to encourage all of our citizens to participate
in activities which would benefit the general
welfare of our society, and
WHEREAS, such a Lag will help rekindle the general
spirit Of our community, and
WHEREAS, a great benefit would be realiseh bg our citi-
zens if such a large outpouring Of service could
he Organized,
