MHEREAB, far the past ten years the members of Women in Muni-
cipal Government have upheld the mantle of our Nation's
heritage of equalitg ana inaiviaual achievement and
have fulfilled the dreams of those who persevered in
the struggle for apportunity for women, and
WHEREAS, founaed in 1974, Women in municipal Government serves
as an effective forum for communication ana exchange
among women local government officials within the frame-
work of the National Ceague of Cities, ana
mitEREAs, Women in municipal Government encourages women to seek
electea ana appointed local office bg providing a net -
mark of support ana Information for current ana aspiring
nffice halaers by offering seminars an campaign strategies,
techniques, ana political skills ana hg'eaucating women
an public issues ana stimulating research an women and
'their role in government, ana
WHEREAS, the leaaersh£p or Women in municipal Government is cam-
prises of dynamic women throughout the countrg who perceive
problems as projects, aifficulties as opportunities, ana
troubles as challenges, and

Warren president of Wan in. Municipal,Goverr=at, and.council
Member Hate Dickson presently is active in the organisation,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, John mcDonaia, mayor of the City of Iowa City,
