Mayor Mary Neuhauser
City of Iowa City
410 E. Washington
Iowa City, IA. 52240
Dear Mayor Neuhauser:
It is with great reluctance that I ask you to accept my resigna-
tion from the Committee on Community Needs. The past 2h years
i on CCN have educated me in city planning and budgeting. I have
been continually amazed and pleased with the information the
City of Iowa City provides to its citizens and the tremendous
support its staff gives to the members of the volunteer committees,
boards and commissions.
Working with CCN has provided me with a historical perspective
Of Iowa City which I believe few citizens take the op
tuity
to discover. I have appreciated the care with which myrconmem-
bers have reviewed proposals for CDBG funding and the decision -
process we have gone through each time. I believe CCN is com-
posed of hard-working citizens who understand and continually
seek a better awareness of the community's. needs. The recom-
mendations which CCN makes are act given lightly. The times
When the city's overriding needs bring the Council and CCN into
couflict have been minimal. I believe this is admirable con-
sidering the potential for disagreement which CDBG funding could
provoke. Council's response, particularly, to the last set of
recommendations from CCN was inspiring and reason for members
to renew their commitment to the objectives of CCN. Unfortunately,
my own schedule can no longer withstand the
quires. time which CCN re -
In closing, I would like to Bay thank you for giving me the chance
F to participate in city government and to know first-hand that in-
dividual citizens can make a difference. It should be noted at
this time that staffs assistance, specifically that
Marianne Milkman members and Pat Keller, has proven of Jim Nencin,
