HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-03-19 Resolution_10 RESOLUTION NO. 82-57 RESOLUTION TO EXTEND BID PERIOD FOR THE OLD PUBLIC LIBRARY SITE WHEREAS, the City Council of Iowa City, Iowa desires to sell the Old Public Library site for private redevelopment and is willing to sell or lease all, or a portion of, the adjacent easterly parking lot in conjunction with the development and/or redevelopment of the Old Public Library site; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to extend the deadline for receipt of said offers to facilitate the marketing of this site; I NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IOWA CITY, that the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to extend the period of receipt of offers for the above mentioned site for private redevelopment from March 29, 1982 until June 4, 1982. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish notice of such extension of the period for the receipt of offers to purchase the Old Public Library site and for the lease or purchase of the adjacent easterly parking lot. This developer is unable to have a bid prepared by the March 29th deadline because of extenuating circumstances. In addition, another potential developer for the site has indicated that an extension of time would be useful. Given the above information, I recommend an extension of the library bid period. An extension of approximately 60 days until June 4, 1982, would allow both potential developers sufficient time to prepare bids.
