HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-05-03 Resolution%I I RESOLUTION NO. 82-105 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE CITY OF IOWA CITY'S UMTA SECTION 3 APPLICATION FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROPOSED TRANSIT MAINTENANCE FACILITY WHEREAS, the City of Iowa City intends to file an Urban Mass Transportation Administration Section 3 application for financial assistance for architectural services and construction of the proposed transit maintenance facility, and WHEREAS, interested citizens should be provided an opportunity to review and comment on these applications, j NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF IOWA CITY, IOWA: i 1. That a public hearing on said application be held at 7:30 P.M. on June 8, 1982, in the Council Chambers of the Iowa City Civic Center; and i 2. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish notice of said public hearing in a newspaper, published at least once weekly and having general circulation in the city, at least thirty (30) days before said hearing; and 3. That the City is hereby authorized and directed to place on file for public inspection the City of Iowa City's UMTA Section 3 application for financial assistance for architectural services and construction of the proposed Transit Maintenance Facility. Working backwards from the time the final construction grant must be submitted on July 23, 1982, several important items must be accomplished almost immediately. Action must be taken at Monday's Special Council meeting (May 3) to establish June 8 as the date of a Public Hearing on the application in order to advertise at least 30 days prior to the date of the hearing. On June 8, the Council will be asked to authorize filing a Section 3 application for detailed architectural and engineering services. On July 20, the Council will again be asked to authorize amending the Section 3 grant to include actual construction costs. In addition, the site of a new facility must be included in the Public Hearing advertisement which will be approved on Monday, May 3.
