City of Iowa City
MEMORANDUM
DATE: December 12, 1980
TO: City Council
FROM: Cit er
RE: Mo Ing Ordinance
In preparing final plans for the move of the former University of Iowa
Credit Union building from its present location to a new location on
Washington Street, it was discovered that the size limitations in the
existing ordinance would prohibit such a move. While the size limitations
generally are necessary because of the distances which houses usually are
moved, in this case the size limitation is not sensible as the width of
the street is adequate to accommodate the move.
Because the move is scheduled for Tuesday morning, we have included with
the informal meeting on Monday a special Council meeting which proposes
an ordinance establishing a waiver procedure for the size limitations. j
This change will permit the move of the Credit Union office. As it will
take six Council members to approve the ordinance, it is important that ;
all members be present Monday afternoon. If approved by the City.Council
on Monday, the ordinance will be published on Tuesday.
