The position is Director, System Control and requires me to relocate to Des Moines, IA. As a result, I plan to resign from the Planning and Zoning commission. Thank you for the opportunity to serve in this capacity. Being a part of the P&Z commission has been an educational and enjoyable experience for me. Regards, Terry L. Smith MidAmerican Energy Company 319-330-7302 Cell 4/9/2008 Vii- 14-UG 19a ~~~ m e m o r~~~ Date: April 9, 2008 To: City Council From: John Yapp, JCCOG Executive Director /~~. Re: Agenda Items ~Q 4~ and ~~ b JCCOG Affordable Housing Taskforce At the March 26 JCCOG Urbanized Area Policy Board meeting, the Board unanimously agreed to form a JCCOG Affordable Housing Taskforce. This taskforce is meant to continue the dialogue generated from the Iowa City Metro Area Affordable Housing Study. An initial meeting would be to determine if there are elements of affordable housing policy that could be pursued regionally. Andy Johnson, with the Johnson County Housing Trust Fund, has offered to facilitate an initial meeting and help facilitate future meetings, if necessary. If there are elements of affordable housing policy that can be pursued regionally, the taskforce would work to make consistent recommendations to each JCCOG member agency on affordable housing policy. As with any policy issue, it would be up to each jurisdiction to make any policy or legislative changes; the role of the taskforce would be advisory. We are asking for one representative from each JCCOG entity to participate. Because of the policy discussions involved, we are asking for an elected official or their designee to be appointed. Other housing staff and housing practitioners will be invited to participate in the discussions. JCCOG Public Transit Expansion Exploratory Taskforce At the March 26 JCCOG Urbanized Area Policy Board meeting, the Board unanimously agreed to form a taskforce to study the expansion of fixed-route public transit. The purpose of this taskforce is to develop scenarios for expansion of fixed-route transit into areas not currently being served based on geographic area and ridership demand, from which staff can evaluate capital and operations costs. This information would be reported back to the JCCOG Board and individual entities, who would then have more full information in the ongoing discussions of public transit service in Johnson County. Due to the financial implications involved, we are asking that one JCCOG Urbanized Area Policy Board representative from each entity or their designee be appointed. Transit Managers and other interested parties will be invited to the discussions. I will be available at your April 14 meeting to answer any questions about both of these taskforces. cc: Jeff Davidson jccogadm/agd/afhsg-pubtrans4-7-08.doc 4- 4- g 2Oa NOTICE THE CITY COUNCIL OF IOWA CITY IS CONSIDERING APPOINTMENT TO THE FOLLOWING BOARD: AIRPORT ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT One vacancy -Unexpired + 5-yr Term Ending December 31, 2011 The powers and duties of the Airport Zoning Board of Adjustment are: 1.
