Action: Air®1~, ~lU.~~~.~,.~ ~~ ITEM NO. 3 CONSIDER AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 10 OF THE CITY CODE, ENTITLED USE OF PUBLIC WAYS AND PROPERTY," CHAPTER 3, ENTITLED "COMMERCIAL USE OF SIDEWALKS," SECTION 4, ENTITLED "TEMPORARY USE OF SIDEWALK PERMITS" TO INCREASE THE DURATION OF THE TEMPORARY SIDEWALK PERMITS ON FRIDAYS IN THE SUMMER. (First Consideration) Comment: The City allows the temporary use of its sidewalks for commercial purposes from 5:00 pm to 9:00 am during the Friday Night Concert Series. The Downtown Association of Iowa City has requested that the City increase the hours to 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. Special Agenda July 3, 2008 Page 2 ITEM NO. 4 CONSIDER A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE IOWA CITY SMALL BUSINESS FLOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. 08~ !q5 Comment: The small business flood assistance program would provide forgivable loans of up to $5,000 to assist Iowa City small businesses with clean-up and inspection costs necessary to get their businesses reopened. Iowa City will dedicate $75,000 from funding currently budgeted and allocated for economic business activities with the hope of securing an additional dollar for dollar match from area businesses to create a total fund of $150,000. Actioi ITEM NO. 5 CONSIDER A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO a~~ )q ~ ENTER INTO A LEASE FOR SPACE FOR THE ANIMAL CARE AND ADOPTION CENTER. Comment: The Animal Care and Adoption Center was flooded, and the animals have been temporarily housed at the Johnson County Fairgrounds. Because of the upcoming Johnson County Fair, the animals need to be relocated by July 15, and they cannot return at this time to the Animal Care and Adoption Center. As a result, the City needs to lease space for staff and the animals pending a decision whether the Animal Care and Adoption Center can be rehabilitated. Staff is currently looking for a site to lease, and this resolution authorizes the City Manager to enter into a lease. Actioi ITEM NO. 6 CONSIDER A MOTION TO ADJOURN TO SPECIAL WORK SESSION. ~~~~
