EXPERIENCE AND/OR ACTIVITIES WHICH YOU FEEL QUALIFY YOU FOR THIS POSITION:
As a lifelong resident of Iowa City, I have volunteered on various projects over the years. I worked with Mike Moran
of the Parks and Rec Dept. on the softball complex at Napoleon Park, dealing with lighting, scoreboard and esthetic.
Also, I helped install the lighting in City Park for the ball diamonds and worked with the Iowa City School District on
the design, location and building of the softball complex at City High. As a past vice president of the IBEW local
labor union, I was instrumental in contract negotiations. My responsibilities included working with management to
settle disagreements over labor contracts. I have 34 years of job experience as a lineman/crew leader, and from
that experience I developed good problem solving skills and good common sense. These two skills provide me with
a positive approach to solving problems, especially when policy and practicality have to come together.

I believe I have the judgment and problem-solving skills needed to consider requests to the board and to make

Dear Ms. Karr,
The Johnson County Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee is in need of a member of
the Iowa City Council. In the past there has always been a council member that attended
these meetings and since the last election this committee has been without council
representation because of Bob Elliot's council term expiring. Prior to Bob Elliot being a
member Connie Champion served for a number of years.
I have discussed this with Mayor Reginia Bailey and she asked that I send you a letter
requesting the council add this to their agenda to discuss appointing a member of the
current council to start attending these meetings.
The CJCC meets the 1~ Wednesday of every month at 4pm at the Johnson County
Administration Building in the Board of Supervisors meeting room.
Thank you for your prompt consideration of this request.
Sincerely,
~~
