Avenue requesting street repairs. This letter has been
referred to the City Manager for reply.
(3) Letter from State Board of Regents regarding construction
of the road for the proposed Sports Arena. This letter
has been referred to the City Manager. No reply is

letter concerning the proposed site for the law school

of the proposed amendment. This amendment would permit
facia signs if located on the face of a parapet wall to

the Cammission's recommendation at the Council's informal
meeting on January 7, 1980. The amendment, if approved,
would exempt existing parking lots from meeting the tree
regulations.

This resolution authorizes and directs the Ci£y'Mafiager to
solicit offers for the purchase of Urban Renewal Disposition
Parcel 64 for private redevelopment. The resolution also authorizes
and directs the City Clerk to publish notice of the solicitation
of offers. To officially solicit offers from developers, the
City will prepare and distribute a formal prospectus setting
forth all terms and conditions of the offer. This item was
deferred from the meeting of December 11, 1979. A copy of the
draft prospectus is enclosed.

CONSIDER RESOLUTION CONVEYING A PORTION OF REAL PROPERTY OWNED BY
THE CITY OF IOWA CITY AND LOCATED AT THE NORTHWEST INTERSECTION
OF SOU11H GILBERT STREET AND U.S. HIGHWAY 6.

Comment:
This resolution authorizes the conveyance of a 4,663 square feet
tract of land to Arie and Antonia Kroeze for the price of $16,320.50.
Said tract is located at the northwest intersection of South
Gilbert Street and U.S. Highway 6. A public hearing on this
parcel held on August 28, 1979.

Item No. 12 - CONSIDER RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AND THE CITY
CLERK TO ATTEST AN AGREEMENT WITH KELLY SECURI'T'Y COMPANY WHEREBY
KELLY SECURITY SHALL PROVIDE SECURITY SERVICES FOR THE PARKING
RAMP AT CLINTON AND BURLINGTON STREETS.
Comment: The City will be contracting with Kelly Security for night security
guards in the parking garage. This item was deferred from the
Council meeting of December 18, 1979. The original agreement has
been amended by defining security services in Section I,and in
Section IIA the term "security guard" was changed to "security
services."

Item No. 13 - CONSIDER RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ESTABLISHMENT OF THE POSITION OF
ASSISTANT TRANSIT MANAGER IN THE MASS TRANSIT DIVISION.
Comment: This position will be in range 11 as stated in an earlier memo to
Council. An Assistant Manager is needed to aid the Transit
Manager in managing the division. Currently the Manager is
averaging 50 hours per week arca is trying to supervise 54 employees.
Additional justification is listed on pages 37 and 38 of the memo

Item No. 14 - CONSIDER AN ORDINANCE DEDICATING CERTAIN CITY PROPERTY FOR PARK
PURPOSES (first consideration).
Comment:

This ordinance will dedicate the north section (40 acres) of
Hickory Hill Park as park land. The 39.83 acres of Hickory Hill
Park (Gaulocher-1919) will remain in its present status, which
means that the cemetery could expand into a portion of it at a
later date. A memorandman and map are attached to the agenda.
