The Iowa City City Council met in regular session on the 24th day Of August, 1976, at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers at the Civic Center. Councilmen present were: Balmer, de- Prosse, Foster, Neuhauser, Selzer, Vevera. Absent: Mayor Neuhauser presiding. Perret. Robi—Witter, from the Committee on Decent Housing, appeared and elaborated on the necessity for low-cost, decent housing in Iowa City. Attorney Hayek stated cities in Iowa could not control rents until State legislature passed a bill allowing it. Barb Lddleson appeared and from that Item 3d6, letter from Laura Lovell, Mental Health Center, requesting financial sup- port from the City for Rape Awareness & Prevention Week, be Pulled from the Consent Calendar and discussed Separately.
