THE FOLLOWING MMISSION:
RIVERFRONT C(kMISSION
Two Vacancies Three-year Terms
December 7, 1976 December 1, 1979
It is the duty of the members of the Riverfront Commission to
investigate, study, review and analyze the Riverfront needs and
to meet such needs within the City of Iowa, City; to investigate
and determine what rules and regulations are needed and what
policy should be established relative to the river£ront in Iowa
City; to study, investigate and make recommendations relating to
clearing, planning and construction of riverbank areas and for
providing green areas and flood plains along the riverfront.
Iowa City appointed members of boards and commission must be
qualified voters of the City of Iowa City.
These appointments will be made at the !December 7, 1976, meeting
of the City Council at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers. Persons
interested in being considered for these positions should contaot
the City Clerk, Civic Center, 410 East Washington. Application
forms are available from the Clerk's office upon request.

pARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
Two vacancies - Four-year Term
January 1, 1977 January 1, 1981
The duties of members of the Parks and Recreation Commission are
to recommend and review policies, rules, regulations, ordinances
and budgets relating to parks, playgrounds, recreational centers
and cultural functions of the City and make such reports to the
City Council as the Commission deems in the public interest. To
exercise broad responsibility for the development of parks, recrea-
tion centers, playgrounds and cultural facilities to serve the
City.
Iowa City appointed members of boards and.corvdssions must be
qualified voters of the City of Iowa City.
The selection and appointments to this Commission will be made,zt
the December 7, 1976, Council meeting at 7:30 P.M., in the Council
Chambers. The actual terms will begin January 1, .1977. This will
allow the appointees to attend meetings of the Parks and Recreation
Commission in order to become familiar with the duties of the Goii1,
mission before assuming full responsibility. .Persons interestod.in

One vacancy - Two-year Term
(Master Plumber)
January 1, 1977 - December 31, 1978
The duties of the members of the Board of Examiners of Plumbers
include examining all applicants desiring to engage in the work
or business of plumbing, whether as a. master plumber or as a
journeyman plumber and issuing licenses to competent applicants.
Iowa City appointed members of boards and commissions must'be
qualified voters of the City of Iowa City.
The selection and appointment to this Board will be made at the:
December 7, 1976, Council meeting at 7:30 P.M. in the Coulicii

The duties of the members of the Human Relations Commission; are
to provide for the general welfare of the citizens of Iowa City,
by studying the relationships of people of various races, colors,
creeds, religions, nationalities, sexes and ancestries living, within
the community. To provide procedures for the operation of:said
Commission to eliminate prejudice, intolerance, bigotry,and; dis-
crimination in the City of Iowa City. To provide foir the general
welfare of the citizens of Iowa City, Iowa, by declaring discrimi-
natory practices in the areas of public accommodations, employment,
and the leasing, sale, financing or showing of, real property to be,
against public policy and to provide procedures for the investigation
of complaints and conciliation and to provide for enforcement.
