Lorraine: A clarification of an item on the agenda for the Council for
Tuesday night is below. Is there a means for getting it to the Council
before the meeting?
Item 4 deals with a recommendation of the! River Front Commission regarding
the planting of the:Sou th River Corridor. Project GREEN, not;, the city,
will be responsible, for providing trees and shrubs, planting them with,
volunteer help, andimaintaining them,(including watering). Emphasis i;s
to be made on selecting plantings that requires little or no care after
the initial two years.

This resolution accepts the work. per -formed by Metro;PaverS, Inc, of
Iowa City for the, paving and storm sewer ;installation on Oakes Drive
and Quincent Street. The improvements have been constructed, in s4-
stantial accordance with City specifications and staff recontfends
adoption of the resolution,;

problem on Beldon Avenue, the work meets specifications. A problem
with slippage cracks has occurred on ,Beldon Avenue which is unique and
is not fully explainable at this time.. Fbweyer, aside fri�e'the Pps-
tomary maintenance bond required for the project,acceptange, Mr. 'Felling
has submitted a letter committing hi,s company to making necessary:
repairs or replacement of the section in. question in the 1977 c6istymtL
season. Public Works recommends acceptance of the work relying on, the

AGREEMENT WITH 7116 UNIVERSITY OF IOWA.
Comment:
This agreement.allaws the University to install a traffic signal,
at the intersegtion of Melrose Avenue and *oolf Avenue. The City
will be responsible for operation, and maintenance of the signal..
The City Traffic Engineering Division will; review the plans and 4111
construction will be in conformance with City standards and approval.
Public Works recommends adoption of this resolution;
