Dear Mr. Rickettes:
Thank you for forwarding to the City Council
YO, Committee. the resoluresolutionsassecl by
Many of us would like to see night service returnod to
Iowa City in the near future. There are three factors ofciitical,
importance in achieving this goal. First is the continuation orthe
one-time state transit assistance program at no less than the present
funding levels. Second is the broading of federal transit assista;1ce to
include small cities like Iowa City. And third is the ponstructiot of a J "
maintenance facility to allow expansion to night service iiihout
rificing reliability.
We will be working for these programs in the near future, and I hope
that your committee will take an active part. Again thank rou for Xour
input to the City Council.

The Youth Emergency Shelter provides temporary housing.and counsell';ing to ;iputh
in crisis. These situations range from family crises, uncontrolled,:behavioi,
pre -delinquent and delinquent behavior, runaway;d,.parent abuse or ng9glect of chil-

at home. During the adolescent►s stay at the Sheltier the staff woriin in cghjunc-.

youth may return home if at all possible. If mit, lin alternative hiving arrange-

community in that it offers a realistic alternative to the Johnson County jail
and state institutions,
The Youth Emergency Shelter has been designated as an appropriate ppropriate location to
Place runaways by Judge 9lebermann of the Juveni11

Dear Julie:
With the responsibilities I have in other areas...
I feel I can no longer serve on the Conanittee for Comm1uni,ty
Needs, I have missed so many meetings recently, Irm
sure most people have probably forgotten I'm even on
the Committee.
The job being done by you and your staff in the
handling of HCDA Funds is excellant and I wish you lube
in the future success of the program. I've enjoyed
getting to know you and the other peoplC. involved.
Please relay my resignation to the CCN as I didn't';
know how to contact Andrea,
