WHERAS, diabetes, the third leading cause of death by disease
in the United States and the leading cause of all new
cases of blindness, is a major health problem for
hundreds of people in this area, and
WHERAS, proceeds of the Diabetes Bike Ride support research,
summer camp for diabetic children, education and
detection programs of the American Diabetes Association,
Iowa Affiliate, Inc. and
WHERAS, the goal of the Association is to find the cause of this
disease and to discover methods to treat, prevent, and
cure,
