Put az; Washington Street ascends to Dodge, it becomes related to College Hill
Park in a tray that leads us to propose in addition a special project in honor
'
of the Bi -Centennial Celebration Year and thus to contribute to Iona City's
role as a Bi -Cents ial City.- We propose to provide a'professional landscape
plan for the refurbishing and revitalizing of College .sill Park, one which
'
will reflect the dreams as well as the needs of the citizens who live near it
and use it. We feel that the restoration of this traditional and well -loved
Iowa City park will bring new vitality to this diztinguished and long respected
older area.. We expect to participate: in a joint _application for funds -poten-
tially available in the City Spirit program for. 1975from the National Endow -
men" for the Arts. It is our anticipation that HUD funds specifically
- indicatod for parks and for the revitalization of older districts of cities
could be properly used for carrying out this Bi -Centennial project. ie
expect to hors: with the Par;: and Tecreation Commission, the Citizens Steering'
Com=ittee, as well as the Planning Staff of the city, in developing the scope
of this project. Vle feel that it has the potential not only of celebratinO
Iova C-ity's oast achievement but of becoming an inspiration for planning well
fol, the future. _..
